Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive has seized 600 kilograms of smuggled betel nuts with the assistance of Docks police station. According to details, Docks police station informed the MCC, Preventive that they had impounded a Toyota Prado loaded with betel nuts during snap checking near Jinnah Bridge Karachi.

Resultantly, the preventive officers reached the police station and took the custody of betel nuts along with the driver namely Naimatullah.

He was asked to produce documents to substantiate the lawful procurement of loaded betel nuts but he failed to do so. Meanwhile, Naimatullah informed that he was working as driver and disclosed the name Aamir as the owner of vehicle.

He also revealed that he loaded the said commodity from Yousuf Goth Bus terminal and was on the way to deliver the same at Jodia Bazar when he was intercepted by the police. During physical examination of the vehicle, the preventive staff recovered 600 kilograms of betel buts and also found that the Chassis number of the vehicle was tampered. Resultantly, smuggled betel nuts along with vehicle were seized and the driver was taken into custody. Consequent upon recovery case has been registered and further investigation is in process.
